A little prep before the technician arrives makes the visit faster — nothing complicated, just clearing the way.
Before the visit
- Clear a path to the appliance, including anything stored in front of or on top of it
- If it’s a built-in appliance, make sure cabinets or surrounding fixtures aren’t blocking access
- Note anything specific about when the problem happens — only during certain cycles, only after it’s been running a while — that detail helps
- Keep pets secured, the same as you would for any visitor
What you don’t need to prepare
- You don’t need the model or serial number to book — though if you know it, it doesn’t hurt
- You don’t need to attempt any repair yourself first — see our repair-decisions articles for what’s actually safe to check versus what isn’t
During the visit
The technician will diagnose the problem, explain what’s wrong in plain language, and give you a price before doing any repair work — see our “what happens during a diagnostic visit” article for the full process.
